Furniture

This piece of furniture was just painted MDF. I would have loved to have a natural wood front and black around the sides and a wood top but I couldn't achieve that look I had to paint the front of the drawers and dresser black. I painted the wicker brown and once dry I sanded the wicker to show through some of the natural colour. I painted the rest of the dresser black. JD cut the top for me from an old dresser we used as an island in the kitchen...I am glad we keep everything!!! I just ran a glaze over the top of the dresser top for a more unified look as the original stain was all patchy. Used the glaze on top of the wicker to try and bring the top and the drawers together. I will change out the handles but im not willing to just go and buy expensive knobs I will wait and see what comes up!!!

Found this piece yesterday in a second-hand place....its awful but I thought a new wood top with an off black body and natural wicker or gold drawer fronts would be lovely and of course some new handles. I'm itching to start this one.. I thought that would be nice under the new D.I.Y basket shade!! We got it for £30.00

JD hates my wee revamped bathroom cabinet said it looks like a Granny toilet 🤣 I re-vamped this a few years back and love it still...I used a Josef Frank image that I printed off and decoupaged onto the doors. Lots more to do. Think im going to tile the back of the toilet but use decoupage instead of tiles. 🙂 I used some leftover laminated flooring to make the shelf above the toilet 🙂

I just used the cheapest handles on my wee unit until I come across the right ones! Its a much nicer colour in real. I wallpapered the drawers using anaglypta wallpaper I sprayed all of it with gold spray paint. I then antiqued with some dark grey wall paint and I highlighted with some brighter gold acrylic paint 🙂 This was the pound store gold spray paint...it only took 1 can which was £2.99.

How beautiful is this...When I sanded back the dresser it had a red tinge to the wood..now im not sure if its cherry or mahogony..Im not good with woods! I didnt really like the red..so I darkened it with black boot polish first, then I added a tan shoe polish over the top...Then I added a clear shoe polish to the top and buffed it in...

Yesterday I took my dresser outside and sanded back all the layers of paint off the top, I used paint stripper and a heat gun....I stained it with black shoe polish..then tan shoe polish...the natural shoe polish....I love it!..I need to chnage out the knobs but look at the wood..

What was I thinking when I painted this wee glass cabinet (wallpaper over the glass) in bubblegum pink last year!!! it was horrible in the bathroom! I slapped on a bit of black im now going to add a stained wood shelf running along that wall to compliment the stained top that I added to the top of the cabinet.

OOOh a wee bit of sunshine here the day...I love it!!! My bathroom looks all light n airy!!!

Aaaaaaaah and the balance has been restored! I stayed up late last night painting out the black island back to white...much better...

This is what happens when you do things to your house when your not motivated..completey ersed this one up!!!

We are talking about the black mess on the island in the centre of the kitchen!!!

I havent got the energy to paint it back!

I made this from hardboard and a nail gun. I printed off some papers and decoupaged onto some of the drawer fronts and some of the fronts I stained with kids paint. I also used some original 60s knobs and wee bits of metal to dress the drawers up. You can see how I made it with a nail gun all the wee nails hahaha. not sure I could do this again even if I tried!

Im not really feeling the need to change anything in the house at the moment...Im blaming the covid maybe its a combination of the slower pace in lockdown and me getting a wee bit older and starting to enjoy my space! Remember my Ikea moppe revamp..I stained the drawers with different colours of watered down brown kids paint, decoupaged some of them with papers I printed and some I done with faux suede fabric. I made the wee mini handle from faux suede fabric to.

I swore I wouldnt touch this wee guy again because I am actually happy with the way he is now...but he just needed a wee something...dry brushed some gold on him...I still love him lol....I wont touch him now..hes finished!!! or maybe a gold leg or a bit of dark wax 🤔😂🤣

OoH look at those beautiful wee bits of red peeping through from the last colour....love it....

I do love the red...

Ive mixed up some green paint using some gouache paint, kids acryllics and some calcium carbonate to turn it into chalk paint This is a much better green I think...Once I do a second coat I will distress with some black..The red and green are so prominent its giving me a horrible festive christmassy feel in the bathroom ..I will have to do something about that!

Ive been sanding this wee box down this morning and I kind of like the base all chippy style or am I just being lazy?
Will I just sand it all off back to the wood?
I stained the top slightly darker ....its an oak piece I think
Its just a wee table with storage for the Studio room.

I love how this piece turned out.
I layered it with 3 different colours and sanded back to show through the different colours.
Pink, Mustard and Linen white.
I painted the inside and gave it a shelf.
I also added some plaster relief work to the doors..

I just dont think that colour would have looked nice in the bedroom..

Much more practical than a drinks cabinet...especially for someone who doesnt drink.

This was such a dinky little thing..
Small pine dresser sanded down, chalk painted and plaster detailing.

Over time I realised my welsh dresser shelved top just gathered dust it really wasnt that useful.
Not in my Kitchen anway.
I used the top in another room.(at my sewing machine for smaller bits n bobs)
I put a base on the sideboard to lift it to the same height as my Kitchen worktops.

I found this in the Hawick charity shops.
Im sure it was under £15.00
A wee paint and some new knobs...
Great bathroom storage..
Yes I have a typewriter in the bathroom :)

A wee before and after...
I found the fire surround on Gumtree.
This was hard work but well worth it :)

Another piece of really cheap furniture...
Got this for £11.00 and im so glad I bought it..
It is such a great piece of furniture..
Has a small hanging space for shirts ..
Painted with some homemade chalk paint and plaster detailing :)

I made this one about 6 years ago!!!
My how time flies....

This little guy has been around the block..:)
He now lives under my Desk Legless!!!

Another little beauty saved from the dump..
All he needed was a new leg..
& A wee bit of TLC...
Some homemade chalk paint and a mix of leftover drawer knobs.
My bedside cabinet...

Working with plaster is amazing..

Its got to be one of my most favourite things to play around in...
You can create wonderful designs..
Charity shop sideboard...£40.00
I think this piece would have been worth a few bob If I hadnt painted it. :) I dont care lol..
I love it..

Some of my pieces I have chalk painted over the last year or so.
Ive also added plaster detailing to some of the pieces.

I found this in the charity shop last year, its been sitting in my shed.
Its far too dark for me, I tried living with it for a few days...
The large Edwardian mirror and side compartments dont leave you much surface space either..

All the old holes filled and new ones drilled :)
More surface space now...
This is painted in quite a warm creamy off white colour...

When you buy older peices..
A common problem is sticky drawers...
It usually takes two hands to open and shut them...
Get a bar of soap or candle :)
rub all over where the drawer and the unit meet, dont be shy...
It really works!!!!

You can find these wall hangings in my Etsy shop

...This little guy has been all over the house...
...As a table, a bedside cabinet, a toy box...
He has been tiled....decoupaged...stripped and painted more than a dozen times....
As of yesterday he is chalk painted in a nice putty colour...
and placed in the bedroom for now,

....storing...
I dont know what yet...

This bookcase is beautiful...
Its an Antiqued oak 1920s solid piece...
Its slimline design means it can fit anywhere...
I needed something to house some of my crafty bits n bobs...
The antiqued Oak is too dark for me......
So I painted it in some of my handmade chalk paint :)..
The stain in the Oak coloured it a nice off white/creamy colour...

chiffarobe, chifferobe, chiffrobe, chifrobe, and shifferobe.
I got it for £11.00....Bargain!
I love pieces which have lots of storage space..
This has replaced my chest of drawers in the bedroom...

Some plaster and handmade tassels...I love it..
I even have space to hang 6 jackets !!!

So I completely forgot about this wee bookcase..
I was clearing out my furniture shed yesterday when I came across this...
It dont think its a beautiful piece but I thought it could be put to use..
This little mahogany bookcase has exceeded my expectations...
I forgot to take a before pic but heres something similar...

And Now...

Drinks cabinet / cocktail cabinet with carved detail...
 lovely walnut doors..
opening to reveal a mirrored back drinks cabinet and two glass shelves, and a pull out slide...
Two drawers...,and a lovely carved skirt at the front and sides...
all supported by carved Queen Anne style legs....

A tad pricey for me but I fell in love.....
but lets not talk about money!

First I had to rip out all the mirror and glass internals and devalue it in just under 30 minutes :)
Some homemade pink chalk paint and handmade wool tassels!

and now its priceless! hehehe

I Found this in a local charity shop for £40.00
Its worth a hell of a lot more! (unpainted lol)

Heres its all painted and decorated in a beautiful navy paint.
I will be doing a wall panel tutorial of behind the Sideboard next time :)

I have painted this in a gorgeous warm Grey with darker undetones...
I think this is a 30s piece.

I forgot to take a before pic of the Bureau...
I found a pic on google images pretty similar to it..

My bed faces right onto the bureau..
I cant think of anything nicer than waking up to a burst of sunshine!

I thought it looked nicer with the insert painted white

I love the colour pop of these two pieces together..

I was determined I wasnt going to paint this piece because it was so gorgeously gorgeous..

I couldnt help myself.....

So here it is my first piece in the JiggleMaWiggle furniture range..
AAAargh some nail biting going on here..

I was asked to decorate this chest of drawers for a litle girls bedroom.

Heres what I came up with....

The Design stands out a lot more in real life...

  3. Have been looking over your furniture and love all the colors. I paint something occasionally but it's usually pretty bland. Greetings from Florida.
