Bedroom

Oh I do Love all the colours in the bedroom I wish I had done this everywhere! I dont know why I painted with so much black and charcoal!!

JD & I are on holiday from work for a few weeks and we have done nothing but tedious stuff around the cottage.

The skip run a few times lol but mostly mending things around the place.

We decided to take a few days off from all this house stuff and go out for a few hours. I found this wee vintage brass lotus candlestick holder for £1.

I wrapped this candle myself with some napkins for my spring décor theme thought it looked lovely in this :)

I saw this on marketplace and I loved it! It was £50 the lady had bought it from TKMaxx for £399.00. The veneer on one of the drawers at the front had broken and was sticking out but JD has glued it for me and you cant even tell it was ever broke!

I got this wee pumpkin from TKmax. I had to buy it its dogtooth!! Enough said!

Door knockers: I found these wee guys in a second-hand place last week...Solid brass and cast iron....I haven't got doors for them 🤣 but im sure I will put them to some other use!

The bedroom cupboard, first I took the door off and then I painted it white. While lying in bed last night I thought l should paint it dark it would tie in the hallway and lower level rooms and give a more cohesive feel..I took the pic from the Livingroom to show you what I mean about it all tying in. 🙂

Wall lighting: This one cheers me up. Hello Sunshine. What do you think Gold wall under the black and white stripe?

You can see an edge of the shelf on the left top of the picture..it runs about 5ft across I put that wee plant on it just now but im going to cover it in old books...plants and more hanging plants.

Ok thats the stripe and picture rail up....Just a wee bit of stripe...I like it!! My eyes are kind of darting all over the place when I look in the room..usually thats a big no no for me ..I like resting places for my eyes...lol...but I like it!

Yesterday I took my dresser outside and sanded back all the layers of paint off the top, I used paint stripper and a heat gun....I stained it with black shoe polish..then tan shoe polish...the natural shoe polish....I love it!..I need to chnage out the knobs but look at the wood..

I am absolutely knackered! I was preparing my wall for my stripe wallpaper when I decided to move the room about...That meant painting walls...painting floors..fixing holes behind furniture...I dont think I have the energy to put up the stripe paper today it may have to wait till next weekend.

A wallpaperer I am not! I cannot blame the paper I dont have enough experience with wallpaper. I have wallpapered a few times with more expensive or thicker paper and never seen a join line or my wallpaper not colour matching! Im not sure wether I mixed up a couple of rolls but one strip is grey the other is off white.. You can also see a line and what looks like mismatched paper! I had to patch in so many bits I just kept ersing it up!

My solution to the join line and different coloured lengths of wallpaper. I cut out some bricks from another roll of wallpaper and just pasted them on top of the join line..I blended some of the cream coloured bricks over to the silver area and now I think it look like its matched in!

A wee update....Im still not feeling very creative...it is gone for now! Im working over @jigglemawiggles but im not making anything new.....anyways..I am enjoying my space though so maybe thats all it is! I did however change the bed and dust the hallway and thought I would take a pic of this achievement for you all.

Mirror mirror on the wall!...This was originally gold I wish I hadnt painted over it. Im thinking about doing it gold again ...I do a lot of thinking nowadays and not really a lot of doing!!

I have been after this wee planter for a while now...decided the other day I was just going to order it..it was a tad dear compared to what I would usually pay for something this size..but its expected from Anthropologie..my most favourite shop ever !!! Isnt she gorgeous! Also im not one for things that dont really have a purpose..as William Morris would say...Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”

I would love to be able to move the bedroom around but I cant..Im afraid Gabe my fur baby has the window seat so it means I cant move my bed anywhere else in the room.

I like the cabinet going along that wall much nicer than the tall one

Oooooh fresh bedding...canny beat it!!! I was going to put a few coats of paint on the studio door..but I think I have to do some housework instead!!!

I think ive shared my gorgeous 1930s sideboard before, I found this in a charity shop for pennies !!! Knowing what I know now I would never have painted over this gorgeous walnut 1930s Scottish piece of furniture. Its now in place of my upcycled drinks cabinet in the bedroom..I put the raised plaster molds on it...its ready for a re-vamp dont you think?

Im thinking of moving this upcycled drinks cabinet into my studio room as my new computer desk space. Its smaller than the ikea desk I have now but its a much more interesting piece...And a drawer pulls out so its a perfect desk! Just wee....er! If thats a word hahahah

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas....la la la la la..Ive been humming this tune all morning hahahaha

This is a better view of the painted black strip in the bedroom.. :)

I made this bedside table last year, I am still very proud of it :). I used just a nail gun. Its such a robust wee handmade :)

Managed to get a wee bit of painting in to...(upper right) more black ahhaha..I have no motivation at all for the house just now! I just work and in my spare time..craft!!!

I do like ma wee shelf I put across the top of the panels..I will have to get to the charity shops to see what goodies I can display on here!!! I havent made my bed today..so no nice throws and pillows..which would have made a better picture lol...but im getting lazy!!!

I made myself a 10ft long shelf to run along the top of my panels in my bedroom..I had to bring it in through the window you should have seen the state of me hahah..I stained it with some kids water paints and top coated with some water based varnish...Once I clean the room I will get a better shot of it...

Hello everyone...I have done absolutely nothing since my vinyl tile rug...I did clean the bedroom today though...Im sick and tired of the colours in here now to...I dont know whats up with me..I just cant be bothered!

I painted the back of the fireplace black..Ive still to do a second coat...I think it looks like it belongs here now...Ive still to re-do the hearth but I dont know whats wrong with me I just cant be bothered!!!!!

I brought my tailors dummy back out of the shed..I was going to decoupage her again...but is it just me but I think she looks ok as she is? I am going to shelf above the wall panels to so I can add some plants and things but my timber merchants is shut at the moment.

I think im going to do something to liven up my Tv cabinet..maybe some pattern on the inside and the drawers.

It was so lovely to see a wee bit of sunshine in the bedroom today..lifted my mood

I think putting up the picture rail moulding really finishes off this wee printed border..I picked up the vintage picture hooks for a few quid each on ebay

First coat on... the black and gold deco panels just werent doing it for me..to dark..I felt limited with colour and pattern. I mixed up this colour similar to farrow and ball calke.. I used valspar hyde park and added some blue and black to it....what do you think? I like this colour better than the black and gold

Maybe twice a year I give my white painted floors a touch up...I only retouch the most walked on areas....I use the Ronseal diamond hard for floors white..Ive used this for years its great stuff and its water based so only a few hours to dry and I can walk on it! Im just going to live with the bedroom with the new added gold and black for a few weeks before I make any decisions on the greens.

Its taking a bit of getting used to leaving my lovely fresh crisp white behind!!!! Panels are finished and now im thinking I should have went with the white and blush art deco fans with white panels hahahahahaha

I havent got a sitting room or a living area I only have the studio room and a bedroom because im not really one for sitting down..but the other day I just fancied relaxin and watchin a bit of tv so I bit the bullet and bought myself a wee one for the bedroom, I found the tv stand in my shed it was an old bathroom unit so I just threw on some paint..and lined the drawers with my famous morris wallpaper hahahaha...somewhere to relax...

BORING POST ALERT: Painted basket: So I actually done one of those jobs that ive said I was going to do for the past few years. This orange brown basket lived under my bed for years storing my jumpers. (that I dont wear). I painted it yesterday with white wall emulsion and a finished with a polyacrylic top coat. More storage for some of my bedspreads. It feels good when I tick some of those wee jobs of.

About 2 years ago I found 4 of these gorgeous linen, scalloped, embroidered edge pillowcases in a charity shop for about £3.99...I love the wee wrinkles in Linen,,the feel of that kinda stiff but soft material. Linen is so expensive so I was overjoyed when I got these!!! dont zoom in on that photie you will see all the dog hair on my bed!!! I hadnt sticky rollered it before I took the picture!!!

Imagine a matt black fire surround (on the right hand side of the picture same colour as my wee fur baby!!! something tells me it would look really good!!! I painted out the boot polish it looks like a hadnt cleaned for the last 40 years!!!

Textured wallpaper, gold paint and black board paint: I wallpapered the base a few weeks back and painted it in white but I dont think the white suited the singer. I sanded some of the black off to show a wee bit of the gold underneath. I used polyacrylic over the black board paint to give it more depth.

Black boot polish distressing: yesterday I gave my fire surround and mirror a much needed coat of paint. I used normal white wall emulsion, top coated in polyacrylic and then rubbed some black boot polish on for some distressing. Im actually thinking about doing the fireplace matt black, what do you think?

It took 7 days to make and 2 days of moving furniture to find a place for it.......and im going to bore you all to death with pictures of it....my wee bedside cabinet 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I just couldnt leave it out in the shed!!! I built it..its all mine!!! I had to make a space....Im leaving the all white behind for now...meet my new bedside cabinet...Its holds my laptop, wires, hairdryer, straighteners, all my hair stuff, and much more!!! Now Im thinking I need a new bed..shall I build it or buy it hahahaha (I am getting cocky now) hahaha

Jigglemawiggles NOT so thrifty home adventure: So I got an new rug....Im all for recycling what I can but we all need some new to!!! Thats my story and im sticking to it...Gorgeous velvety golden rug

Its the little things...I added a dark gold flex to match the interior of the lampshade... Such a pretty lampshade..The plastic one just cheapened the look of all that rich velvety goldiness!!

What more can I say...Im in love ...Velvety Gorgeousness!!!

A wee quickie project...sewing machine base revamp. The wood base was a tad boring for me...I walloped some chalk paint over it..slapped on a bit of wallpaper and added a few hinges....its a wee bit prettier and I havent affected the mechanics of it.

A wee close up....just because... So bored this Sunday evening... I realised once I took the pictures Im going to change out my fabric prints I have in these wee recycled frames and embroidery hoops they have been like this for years!!!!!!

Last one...more textures...this is my favourite room!!!

Textures....love textures...

peekaboo Art Nouveau plaster stencil....

Textures...I just love as I walk through my house and see all the textures..I dont think I will ever bore of mouldings...

Its only 13.39 and Ive finished work already over at Jigglemawiggle
Today I am going to clean out my cupboards..well at least one anyway!!! Inside my cupboards are starting to look like a stall from Paddy's Market and I'm talking 80s Glasgow !!!

So the last few days I have been painting doors, walls and  floors I even power washed the rug!!!

I found this gorgeous blush bedspread in a second hand shop in Selkirk..months ago!!! Decided to put it on today after freshening up all of the bed linen its so big...and so pretty!!!

I was cleaning my bedroom yesterday when I came across this little guy..
I was given it years ago by a friend she had a matching set, its such a gorgeous, tiny, dinky little thing..
I keep my cushions on it at night when I pull the bed back..
It hasnt been re-done for over 7 years..It would snap if you sat on it...

10 year old very tatty red faux leather storage boxes so ready for a new lease of life..
These took longer than expected...
2 days for decoupage and drying out times!!!
I used decoupage, and mixed polyfilla with the chalk paint to stipple effect the lids and bases..
I also used a few upholstery tacks as feet and for the lids for decoration.
Not much but nicer shoe storage for me and saved from the bin.

I was supposed to be working this afternoon but instead I am doing what I do best "Faffing" and taking pictures 😀
The bedroom just looks so pretty sometimes in certain light..

I got this lovely green fiberboard cupboard installed to hide the gas central heating boiler in my bedroom, It was not very pretty :/
I had some leftover wallpaper from the hall so I cut and glued it on as borders around the edges of the door.
I had some wood filler to hand so I just used that for the stencil around the handle..
I didnt want anything to ornate because the bedroom is really starting to look like a wedding cake!!!
Oh and a wee handle change....(had these in the she cave)

I have posted about my plaster stencil instead of wallpaper before..
I think you can get a better feel for it at night when the lamp hits it...

So I put it to a vote on my facebook page ..
My Facebook
and it looks like with the mirror has been voted.
I kind of knew this but I think I was just hoping it was nicer without because I cant be bothered painting it!!!!
Guess what im doing next time I have some spare time 😒

Im seriously thinking about painting the mirror and re-attatching it!!
Im not sure..

Sometimes its just the simple things..not the most ornate or elaborate..just making a simple shelf from something that would be going to the skip.
My son got a new chest of drawers for his room so I took apart his old one which was really falling apart and used the sides to make a deep, high up shelf for my bedspreads.
I put it together in an less than an hour, the painting took a few days a wee stolen hour here and there when I got the time.
Ive still to dress it...its so simple and useful I think it will look nice once it has the bedspreads on it.

I posted yesterday about the simple shelf I was making from the sides of a broken chest of drawers.
Well here it is with my bedspreads on ity...
I love my bedroom....I love sleeping in here...I love sleeping though!!! lol

I just thought I would take a wee pic of my beloved Singer...I was on my way to bed when I looked over and my wee baby singer was just sparkling in the candlelight..
I really do have a singer obsession...

So we have a fab new shop in town and its called room 7A.. More important its a second hand shop what more could I ask for...
The owner has great taste and the little shop is filled to the brim with lots and lots of simply divine things.
I was in for a visit the other day and picked up this gorgeous Kingsize Bedspread.
I dont actually need one..
What I do need though is storage to hold my ever growing collection of bedspreads...
I need to build a high up deep shelf in the alcove in the bedroom..

Theres no doubt this was a beautiful piece to start with.
I had no need for a drinks cabinet but what I did need was more storage in the bedroom.

I had an early night last night..
I just lay in  bed for a while enjoying the beauty..
I cant wait to start working on the cocktail cabinet for my clothes...:)

I love how this piece turned out.
I layered it with 3 different colours and sanded back to show through the different colours.
Pink, Mustard and Linen white.
I painted the inside and gave it a shelf.
I also added some plaster relief work to the doors..

I just dont think that colour would have looked nice in the bedroom..

Much more practical than a drinks cabinet...especially for someone who doesnt drink.

It took me 2 days...It was worth it though :)

I have been wanting one of these since I started this blog in 2012...
Can you imagine my excitement when I walked in to a charity shop in Hawick last week and seen this....battered, discoloured and plaster crumbling little guy for £50.00

I never bought it..my son talked me out of it, saying I had no room for it...
A full day went by and I just couldnt forget..where to put it played over and over in mind...where could I put it..bathroom? no...hallway?..no just forget it...you have no space...MY BEDROOM!! I can remove the existing one and put it there...
The next day came and I watched the clock until 9am...hoping and praying no-one had found it...by 9.03 it was mine!!

The first job I had was to plaster all the missing bits which you dont see in the picture...
Then a coat of chalk paint...
but it was to grey for me I wanted a more linen colour...

Next job was the hearth the one that was aready there was way to small.
I used some more vinyl tiles I had left over from the hallway to make the hearth bigger.

Here it is...im so pleased with it...

I am so busy at the moment over at Jigglemawiggle making stock for the upcoming Selkirk Farmers Market.
My thrifty home adventure blog and facebook page have been totally neglected..
I do miss my D.I.Y, I just have no time :(
A wee project from last year when I found this fire surround.

I have this gorgeous Eucalyptus tree in my garden planted by myself may I add. :)
It gives me lush leaves all year round.
Eucalyptus leaves make a gorgeous display on those shelves that dont get any light..
Im not a big fan of fake plants so this is the ideal solution for me.
So I was on the hunt for some recycled glass vases..
Fell in love with these from
https://www.housekeepingstore.co.uk/
Even better managed to get the small vase in the sale and a further 5% discount for joining the email list. £5.50 odds...BARGAIN!!

My bedroom with its new chest of drawers...
Some Light and airy botanicals..
and a wee smidgen of pink and copper...

...This little guy has been all over the house...
...As a table, a bedside cabinet, a toy box...
He has been tiled....decoupaged...stripped and painted more than a dozen times....
As of yesterday he is chalk painted in a nice putty colour...
and placed in the bedroom for now,

....storing...
I dont know what yet...

I love these outdoor rugs...
They are great for muddy paws...
You just wipe them clean..
I actually washed all the runner and small rugs in the bath the other day...
they came out like new!

I have my Mum coming this weekend and its officially spring time...
The house is long due for a spring clean...

Bedroom all clean :)

I originially got this fire surround for the Kitchen but I didnt like it in there...
It is a perfect fit for the bedroom though...
I picked it up in the Hawick Charity shops for £30..
A tad expensive I think....
but after a wee coat of paint and a centre mold picked up for a £1 in the charity shop...
Its worth the £31.00 now :)

The fireplace really makes my bedroom feel a lot cozier...
Last night I made some wool tassle bunting for it..

This is the third time around for this wee guy :)
Antique bookcase bought for pennies in the auctions!
I didnt take a pic of the before but he looked something like this...
 Only not as nice!
2015

2016

I dont know about you but its storage for the crap I need not a display case!
I cut some hardboard to size, wallpapered it.. stuck it onto the glass panels then sealed it.
Perfect to hide away some of the not so nice bedroom linens...
2017

A wee close up  of the wallpaper :)

My beautiful Art Nouveau Mirror..
This one I  bought last year from my local antique shop in Selkirk..
It only cost £30...Bargain..
I added some Nouveau plaster stencils :)

Polystyrene coving and ceiling medallion..
Oh my.. did I absolutely balls up these Jobs....
There isnt one bit of this job that im happy with...
The good thing is..
When I do the Hallway it will be perfect because I have learned from my mistakes :/

You cant see all the coving and medallion...
But trust me its rough!!!

Ive had madge for years....

Looks lovely from the hallway...

The plaster stencils are about the only thing im happy with!
They turned out perfect...

My chandeliers electrics are needing redone..
So I just popped in some oven bake clay to hold the candles in place..

Found this gorgeous French Brass Vanity Mirror in Hislops second hand shp yesterday...

Found this wee stick beauty years ago in the charity shops...

Choosing wallpaper for the bedroom has been a nightmare...
Everything I liked cost an absolute fortune..
Anyway I wasnt willing to pay the prices...
I decided on a no cost plaster wallpaper of my own...
Everything needed here I own in my Jiggle Ma Wiggle Studio Shed :/
Plaster..Stencils, Masking Tape.
Im not sure Im finished yet..
May add some more!!!

I found this gorgeous duvet cover in the charity shop yesterday in Hawick...
It was £4.00..
Inspiration strikes...
This is my new colour inspiration for the bedroom updo!
Dont look at anything else nothing goes at the moment!

2016
chiffarobe, chifferobe, chiffrobe, chifrobe, and shifferobe.
I got it for £11.00....Bargain!
I love pieces which have lots of storage space..
This has replaced my chest of drawers in the bedroom...

Some plaster and handmade tassels...I love it..
I even have space to hang 6 jackets !!!

So Ive finally got the men in to fix the damp wall..
They had to knock the plaster off on one wall..
Replace the damp proof membrane and re-plaster...
What a mess..
So I have had to give the bedroom a wee makeover..:)
Not a full one just a wee one..
I finally paneled the bedroom wall.

This is not the wall that had the dampness..Ive still to paint that one!!!

My chest of drawers was looking rather shabby..
I replaced it with a chifforobe I had bought from the auction last year for...
£11.00...
Supposedly no-one wants brown furniture!!!

and heres a wee sneak preview...
Check out those knobs!

Im hoping that in 2016 I shall finally panel all my bedroom walls..
Also fix the wiring in the chandalier!
and fix the moldy wall behind the bed!
and the broken door handle...and...
Maybe find a real iron bed!

Just because Im snap happy...
My painted suitcases in the bedroom...

My doily lampshade I made..

I went to the local skip today to dump some of the rubbish I have acquired over the past few months from decorating the kitchen. In the skip were two lovely lamps. This one I only needed to give a wee wash its bronze antique in colour with a velvet lampshade.

My we mum came to visit and decorated one of my bedroom walls...thankyou mum...

Spring clean because mums coming.
Picked her some lovely weeds from the garden

Heres a pic of the bedroom when I viewed the house..

I removed the beige carpet and the anaglypta wallpaper.

Gabe having a good sniff at the old carpet lol

Underneath the old carpet I found a hearth in the floor so I knew when I pulled the paper I would have the option to open up a fire in the bedroom whoo hoo...I say yes....

The white room

I havent finished the fireplace. I am going to frame the inside with some MDF and make it look like wrought iron and chip off the plaster to reveal the brick work on the wall.

you can find the tutorial of the picture frame here...
and a turorial of the firescreen here....

The fire surround was from Ebay. I mixed up some white emultion with a tint of black to give me this nice grey colour...I painted the fireplace with a coat of white first, then a coat of black and then I painted the top coat with my mix and then sanded back lightly.

The walls and floor are all done. Had to move the furniture back in just now because the house was starting to look like paddys market!!!! This is the bit I love designing the bedroom but im not sure yet what I am going to do with it..will start on all the paneling soon...

I was needing a sewing space and these wardrobes where taking up far too much space, so I broke up one of the wardrobes and used it for shelving for my new sewing are.

I still have to paint the wardobe and shelves.
